It was a shocking scene, those present were left open-mouthed in disbelief while those who got briefed about the incident later also spent good time clapping hands, gnashing teeth and speaking inaudibly in surprise.

Within the academic community of University of Ilorin; the gist of the incident dominated talks and the issue is still discussed in hush-hush tones.

Second semester examination is on at the university and the students have for days now been in examination mood.

A 300-level student in the faculty of Arts  had prepared for the particular paper and like other students sat patiently though with anxiety over the probable questions. Things went as planned, the supervising lecturer distributed the question papers and as soon as he gave the order via the customary statement ‘start’ the shout of ‘Oh Jesus! I can’t see again’ however diverted attention to the babe.

She had shockingly, surprisingly and unfortunately lost her sight on touching the question paper!

 Sources disclosed that she was immediately rushed to the school clinic for medical attention and was promptly referred to a hospital in town.

We gathered that her mother was informed and the visibly worried and disturbed woman was also speechless on arrival wondering how it all happened.

Meanwhile, a source stated that such an incident was shocking and that it was apparently a spiritual attack.

‘Somebody who walked into the examination hall unaided and with a good sight suddenly went blind on sighting the question paper, it leaves no one in doubt that it was a juju attack and only metaphysical solution could save her’, the source said.

A top medical expert who spoke on condition of anonymity, however, countered the perspective of juju attack and other spiritual reasons stating that there are different causes of sudden visual loss with sound medical explanations.

‘All those are anachronistic beliefs of the past that exist only in the imagination of some people. It is a medical thing; it could happen to anyone with certain backgrounds; sudden blindness is possible medically and there is no big deal about it. Sudden visual loss may be dramatic in presentation in cases like media opacities, retinal DX, Optic nerve DX, Visual pathway, functional disorder or acute on xnic visual loss’ he stated..
