Chief Imam of Ibadanland Sheikh Baosari Suara Haruna Dies at 93 After Brief Illness...Plus His Last Moment

The Chief Imam of Ibadanland who doubles as President General, League of Imams and Alfas in South West states, including Edo and Delta states,  Sheikh Baosari Suara Haruna III, has been reportedly dead at the early hours of today Thursday Arpil 9th.

The cleric, according to the President, Muslim Media Practitioners of Nigeria, Abdur-Rahman Balogun died at a ripe age of 93 after a brief illness.

Mr. Balogun said the deceased would be buried Thursday in Ibadan, in line with Islamic tradition.

It was learnt that Sheikh Haruna’s last public outings was on March 25, three days to the recent presidential election, when muslims from all walks of life gathered at the Eid Praying ground in Ibadan to offer special prayer for the nation.

That prayer was called by the Muslim Ummah of South- West‎ Nigeria (MUSWEN), and the respected cleric presided over the session for several hours.

Mr. Haruna told that gathering that the prayer was necessary in view of the ongoing general elections.
The Sheikh was one of Nigeria’s most respected Islamic clerics.
