HON. TEJUOSO IN HOT CONTENTION FOR LAGOS ASSEMBLY SPEAKERSHIP SEAT ..As Race Divides Members

As you read this piece, a big vacuum is about to be left behind when Hon. Adeyemi Ikuforiji exits the Lagos State House of Assembly in few weeks time. Hon. Ikuforiji is the incumbent speaker of the Lagos Assembly and his tenure as leader of the hallowed chamber will come to an end with the current 7th Assembly. Needless to say his compulsory exit from the House has opened a window of opportunity for another lawmaker to pilot the affairs of the House for the next four years. To this end, aspirants for his position have already emerged. They are Hon. Adefunmilayo Tejuoso, representing Mushin Constituency1; Hon. Rotimi Abiru from Shomolu constituency 11; Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, representing Agege constituency 1; Hon. Wasiu Eshinlokun, representing Lagos island constituency 1; Hon. Gbolahan Yishawu, representing Eti-Osa constituency 11;  Hon. Moshood Oshun, representing Lagos Mainland constituency 11 and Hon. Sanni Agunbiade from Ikorodu constituency 1. But of all these contestants, those widely believed to be strong contenders for the exalted position are; Hon. Adefunmilayo Tejuoso, Hon. Rotimi Abiru, Hon. Moshood Oshun and Hon. Wasiu Eshinlokun.

Meanwhile, out of these perceived strong contestants Hon. Tejuoso, and Hon. Abiru are said to be favourites for the plum job. Those who should know revealed that Hon. Tejuoso and Hon. Abiru remained the most experienced with leadership character to lead the hallowed chamber. Hon. Abiru is the current deputy chief whip of the House and he is returning to the Assembly for his third term. One of those things that will stand against his emergence is the fact that his constituency falls under the senatorial district of the governor elect, Akinwunmi Ambode who is from Lagos East Senatorial District. It is said that it won't speak well of the party to give two top leadership positions to same zone. For Hon. Tejuoso, she is the most qualified and experienced female lawmaker in the House, she is returning to the House for her fourth term in a role. Part of what stands her in pole position for the speakership position is the fact that she is a lawyer and was once the Deputy Speaker of the House. Her constituency is under Lagos West Senatorial District. Already, an inside source within APC divulged to us that those least expected to support her speakership ambition have queued behind her, throwing their weight behind her emergence as speaker of the coming 8th Assembly. She is currently Chairman of House Committee on Finance and had hold other sensitive positions in the House.
