Nigeria S’East State To Ban Sale Of Foreign Rice To Boost Home Production

The Ebonyi Government has said it was concluding plans to enforce a ban on the sale of foreign rice in markets and other outlets in the state.
Governor David Umahi made the disclosure recently in Abakaliki when he received some visitors to the state.
The governor said the order would soon be enforced to ensure that the residents patronized home-grown Ebonyi Rice.

It is a well known fact that Abakaliki rice was one of the well known in the country before it was relegated. Now the governor of the state has said that in order to start charity at home he has banned cooking of imported rice in the government house.

The governor further said most rice brought into the country are not parboiled and after a certain time it becomes poison.
