Following a video
that has gone viral on the social media which captures Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan
Aremu Akiolu, publicly snubing the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi at
a public function, Nigerians have come out with a strong voice in condemning
the action of the older monarch.
Many Nigerian including both Northerners and Southerners
have come out to castigate Oba Akiolu for rubbishing royalty.
While many are quick to condemn the shameful act of
Olowoeko, they at the same time giving kudos to the Ooni for playing down the
perceived insult and humiliation with maturity. Despite the disgraceful act,
Ooni sat quietly and started chatting with the Obi of Onitsha who sat beside
him as if nothing happened.
The video which lasted for 27 seconds, shows the Ooni of
Ife arriving the venue of an event, where he exchanged pleasantries with the
Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Alfred Achebe.
The Ooni’s attempt to greet the Oba Akiolu who was seated
next to the Obi of Onitsha was rebuffed by the Lagos monarch who simply waved
his hand and ignored the Ooni.
