Lagos APC Cautions Mischief Makers Over Lekki ,Ajah Flood:

The All Progressive Congress Lagos condemns in the strongest terms the antics of mischief makers over the weekend as a result of floods in the Island, Lekki and Ajah corridors of the Lagos metropolis. Instead of sympathizing and encouraging the residents of the affected areas, we see some enemies of progress mocking and making jest of them.

In a Release signed by the State Publicity Secretary Mr. Joe Igbokwe the Party says “It is inhuman, appalling, mischievous, unproductive, misleading and unacceptable for people to celebrate a natural situation that has affected a lot of Lagos residents negatively”
“What has happened to our humanity? When did we lose our humanity? When has it become a norm to celebrate other peoples’ misfortunes? What is the meaning of this? Who did this to us? We think that Lagos is a smart city occupied by civilized people. We think that Lagosians can do better than this”
“Flood is a global phenomenon and a natural occurrence. We are living witnesses of the menace of floods across the world. We have seen it in Japan, United States, London, Philippines, Cameroun, Ghana, Australia, New Zealand etc. In Nigeria here 18 people lost their lives in Suleja yesterday, property destroyed, roads, homes and farmlands destroyed. Ogun State and even Anambra have been affected also. Rains must fall and floods will also come. It is part of life”
“The Lagos State Government is aware that Lagos is a coastal city and it is therefore prone to flooding no doubt, and consequently, the State has been proactive, sensitive and committed to building drainages, canals and prompt evacuation of waste in the metropolis”
“The citizens must also help the government to succeed. Drains and canals are not the places to dump waste. Citizens must avoid building houses on drainage lines, and they are also expected to construct drains in front of their houses and the next neighbours are expected to  join also”
“The big men in Ajah, Lekki, Ikoyi, Victoria Island and other flood prone areas must also compliment the efforts of the government.  All we see are sophisticated edifice, smart buildings and mansions with huge and tall fences to protect themselves. They care less of what is going on outside their buildings. Governance is supposed to be a collective responsibility. Yes the big men can compliment government effort by doing the needful”
