Dead ‘Yahoo Boy’s family Insists Police Culpable

Aboy's corpse
Despite the Special Anti -Robbery Squad attached to Area M Command of the Nigerian Police Force making concerted effort in defense of the allegation that they are directly linked to the death of “Aboy Life of Ginjah” a popular yahoo boy who lived around the Isheri/Idimu area of Lagos before death came calling, the family of the young man is maintaining that the police are not innocent of the death in anyway. Though, it is generally agreed that the police did not fire any shot that led to the death of Aboy, those who were at the scene, claimed that the police cannot absolve itself from the unfortunate incidence.
The late Aboy

According to those who witnessed how the young man died, it was the fear that the police were coming for him and his friends at the Oyins Hotel, Idimu, that got him scared to the point of injuring himself gravely before his eventual death.
Aboy fell on a sharp rod that pierced both his hand and stomach while trying to escape through the fence from the SARS that came to invade the hotel where he was having fun.
The family of the deceased is claiming that it has become a pin in the leg at the hotel for the police to storm the place regularly to harass any young person in sight including their highly ‘wanted’ yahoo boys in order to extort money from them.
The family source we spoke with informed us that severally many have been arrested by the SARS and if they could not arrange money immediately, they are bound to be in their custody for as long as they want.

Our source further claimed that, there was absolutely nothing incriminating with Aboy when the police arrived but he had to run because of what has happened to many before him. He said further that despite the warning by Lagos Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni on the issue of harassing ‘Yahoo Boys’ about, the police in Lagos see  it as a means to make quick money from them. And this the family claim led to the death of Aboy.
