That the Bayelsa State born Minister
of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezna Allison Madueke is one of the most powerful
individuals in the President Goodluck Jonathan government is no longer news.
The charming and dazzling Nigeria’s first female minister of petroleum wields
immeasurable influence in the current dispensation. And she is one of the few
people who have the ears of the president on any issue; be it personal,
domestic or national. So close are they that many wonder what binds her and the
president together. Cityrovers.blogspot.com heard, far back in the past, the family of the minister contributed in no
small measure to the well-being of the president; the number one citizen got favours from Diezani's family and the husband before he joined politics. What the president is doing now by keeping her perpetually in power is like a pay-back time because of what her (Diezani) family did in the past for President Goodluck Jonathan. For
those who don’t know much about her, she was born with silver spoon and enjoyed
all the luxuries of life any privileged child of her status should enjoy. She
is the only Nigerian woman to be appointed a director at multi-national oil
giant, Shell, coupled with the fact that she is married to a former Chief of
Naval Staff, and a former military governor helped to stand her out as a
complete treasure by any standard. And it is not a surprise that Mrs. Allison
Madueke who is the current Chairman of Oil Producing Exporting Countries (OPEC)
is today one of the women of excellence in Nigeria.
