MTN N1.4trn fine VP Osinbajo To Suffer Loss

When Vice President Yemi Osinbajo made public his assets recently, one of the companies that was visible he has interest is MTN, where he is believed to have huge shares with the South African owned company.
The number two citizen despite his denial that the presidency is having talks with MTN over the $5.2 billion fine slammed on it by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), it is  however gathered that should the federal government insists on the full payment, the VP is bound to be on the losing side because there is no way it wont affect the company’s fortunes where he has huge interest.

Not a few people are of the opinion that the VP Oshibajo would still meddle into the fine issue and would canvass for a soft landing for the company that will see the company not paying the full fine and also pay whatever will be agreed in installments
MTN on its part has also hinted  on this when it said it  was in talks with the Nigerian presidency, internal security agency and the communications regulator about the fine imposed on it for failing to disconnect unregistered subscribers and other users with incomplete registration.

Meanwhile a delegation of MTN officials from the company’s headquarters in South Africa, led by the company’s Chief Executive Officer, Sifiso Dabengwa, is said to be in Nigeria to plead for a lower penalty. NCC gave MTN until November 16 to pay the fine.
